You need to understand the anatomy of teeth. If you file below the enamal layer, you risk disease and infection and abscess formation. The only abrasive you should ever use is toothpaste and a toothbrush.
YA is not a good place to get this kind of advice. I suggest you take this question to a local dental office. If there is a financial problem, they may be able to refer you to a public health office that specializes in dental care. They may even be able to give you an estimate of what it would take to do what you want but do not do it yourself. The injury that could result may be far worse than buck teeth.

On a light note, I once had a chipped tooth with a rough edge that was driving me crazy and making my tongue bleed. i took a nail file and gently filed down the rough edge until it was smooth enough. I also immediately made an appointment with my Dentist.

Why do so many celebs not fix their teeth???
I'm not trying to be mean but why don't missy elliot, jewel, and reverend run's whole family fix their teeth??? If i were a celeb and i had big, buck teeth or crooked teeth that would be the first thing i'd do. where i come from regular people get braces (white, black, hispanic). Do u think it's just because they are trying to be unique??

I think that they are trying to look more genuine and approachable. So many people in the entertainment industry get evreything "improved" so greatly- that they don't look like real people anymore. I think it is a simple way to look more "real" to their fans. The first person to come to my mind is Madonna. She still has her little gap between her teeth, but her smile looks white and healthy. Elton John has the same gap...it's charming. If they get porcelain veneers and/or caps, their smiles would just look like everyone elses...I was happy to see Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters got his teeth fixed...he looks much better now.

Would you go out with someone with bad teeth?
im a girl with buck teeth. ive started to wear braces recently so my teeth r gettin better, but i was wondering, would you go out with someone with bad teeth, not to sound conceited, but im good looking, smart, funny and a great personality, nice body,and i have my own style. would that eliminate the fact that i have one physical defect?

It says they have little confidence about their character and personality. It says that they judge other people on their looks and have a glamorized Hollywood sense of beauty. An overall shallowness that is off-putting and so much of what is wrong with this country.
Having said that, it probably sucks having bucked teeth and if you want to fix it please do. I hope your new look gives you the confidence and self-empowerment to achieve more than a great look. Take a picture of your bad teeth with a great big smile. Hopefully, you'll get a kick out of it one day.

My daughter is only 2 1/2 months old and she is teething. Her top two teeth are coming in first instead of her bottom two first. People keep telling me that because of that she is gonna have buck teeth. Is this true?

It is of no concern that the top teeth are coming in first, as long as the bottom teeth come in next. If they do not, get to the dentist because there could be a chance of "congenitally missing teeth" aka your baby may be born without them. The most common teeth to be born without are the maxillary lateral incisors, bottom 2nd premolars and wisdom teeth, but again, those are generalities.
Buck teeth are a product of thumb sucking and/or crowded teeth. It is too early for you to assume or even worry about buck teeth....that is a misconception!
Be sure to practice brushing and do not use toothpaste with fluoride until after the age of 2...and even then, only use a pea-sized drop to minimize the chance of "fluorosis" or permanent staining on the adult teeth. Good luck!

What do guys really think about girls with missing front teeth?
Or no teeth at all? I had ugly buck teeth that hurt all the time before. I lost my front teeth and then I had all the rest pulled 2 months ago, so I don't have any at all right now. Hope to get some fake teeth in the spring maybe. No dental coverage and not much money. I'm 15, 5' 5 1/2", 92 pounds, blonde hair, kind of average looking except no teeth. Needless to say dating has been the pits. Just wonder what guys are thinking about me when they see me.
