Do I REALLY need to have my wisdom teeth removed?

I mean, they don't bother me at all and I feel like they just want to do the surgery to get a few bucks out of everybody.

Do I REALLY need to have my wisdom teeth removed?
Are they impacted/crooked or cause you pain? If not, You don't need them removed! Not all wisdom teeth have to be removed. They can be an asset to some people!

Did you consult an orthodontist about this? Did s/he say you need them removed?
Reply:If they aren't bothering you, I would keep them.
Reply:I have talked to dentists about this - as long as they aren't bothering you or causing the other teeth to be crowded, leave them alone. the risk is they could become impacted, infected, and cost more to remove when this happens. if you are fine with the risks, leave them alone. I tell the dentist, " schedule my surgery, I have the surgery, walk out and get hit by a car" the point I make to them is i could die before they become a problem.
Reply:How do you know you even have wisdom teeth? They "don't bother" you at all because...why? Have they grown in completely? Or have you had a panoramic x-ray that shows them still developing in your jaw?

Wisdom tooth extractions aren't done just "to get a few bucks out of everybody", anymore than a dentist fills a cavity just for kicks!! Most people do not have the room in their jaws for wisdom teeth (blame evolution) and it's better to have them removed before they cause trouble, i.e. infections, cysts, etc.
Reply:it depends if there just is enough room for them otherwise they will push their way in and your front teeth will sort of look crossed and its rather dificult to keep them cavity free so yes definately they need to be pulled i had mine done by a surgeon at age 38 and it was done within 5 min it depends also on the way your roots are an x-ray will clear that up..
Reply:You should keep them if they don't bug you.
