I have a golden retriever that will not take a real bone. Tried different parts of the house, her yard, kitchen

Her mate passed a week ago, but she never would take a bone at all in the house or outside. She needs them for her teeth, otherwise big bucks at the vet.Her mate was the alpha(little beagle mix)Thought about putting peanut buttter on it, she goes after that. Thoughts?

The dog doesn't like bones would be my thought. Not a big deal don't worry about it. You will have to use other alternatives.
Reply:Are you talking about a real bone meaning like a bone from an animal, cause those can be dangerous for a dog to chew, get dental bones, or gumabones, or you can get a chew toy called a KONG there very strong, and you can put peanut butter or treats inside to get them to chew , my dogs love them
Reply:You should try brushing her teeth instead of making her chew bones to keep them healthy and white.
Reply:instead of the bone for her teeth which doesnt really help anyway, you could try brushing them everyday with a toothbrush and doggy toothpaste.
Reply:try raw bones with marrow in them (get them from the butcher and feed them to her raw) this way they don't shatter and they are really meaty! But some dogs just don't like them.

Get some plaqueoff. just put 1-2 scoops in her food per day (1/16th of a teaspoon and its included in the bottle) this is a natural seaweed that prevents the plaque from sticking to the teeth. Its about $20 but it will last for 6mo or so. $40 a year or $200 for a dental. pretty cool. And it can go on wet or dry food and they don't know its there! I always use it on my dogs and they are 3 and have never had or needed a dental!! the makers are verry selective about who they sell it to so you might have to order it online but it is worth it!. You can also find the large size which you will save about $5-10

(we sell it for $55) and it will last about a year to a year and a half. Good luck!
Reply:Taste, I guess. I have a Pekingese who loves meat in the bones and won't take any kind of treats. I tried everything.
Reply:Why does she need the bone? Real bones (like ham bones) can cause pancreatitis. To clean her teeth while she's not chewing anything, get one of those brushes that go on your finger and toothpaste for dogs at the petstore.

BusyBones are also a good alternative, although for some dogs the meat in the middle gives them diarrhea but I just push out about half the meat and my dogs fine.

She just needs time and alot of love from you.
