Has anyone tried the nightguards for tooth grinding that you can buy at Walgreens?

My dentist told me that she thinks that I'm grinding or clenching my teeth at night. I'm pretty sure that I do. I really can't afford to have her make me a guard. Has anyone tried the ones from Walgreens that are supposed to mold to the shape of your teeth? They're only about 25 bucks and I would like to try one to see if it will help. Anyone out there used one? How did it work for you?

My fiance wears one called "DENTEC night gaurd" that we got at walmart....it works WOOOOOOOOOOOONDERS!!!! He used to wake me up at night cause his grinding was soooooooooooooo bad and hes been using it for the last few nights and he says that not only does his jaw NOT hurt anymore when he wakes up, but I GET my sleep!! It was around $15 to $20 for his and i swear, it was THE best money i ever spent!!!
Reply:I'm not in the dental or even medical field, so take this as opinion only. I would first try a simple sports mouthpiece purchased from the sporting goods section of most stores. You boil and mold them to fit your mouth. This is a possible quick $3-5 solution.
